Percept of religious of Turkish intellectual: The sample of Sezai Karakoç and İdris Küçükömer

This study, "Percept of Religious of Turkish Intellectual: The Sample of Sezai Karakoç and İdris Küçükömer" deals with the intellectual adventure of Turkish intellect and the religious part of this adventure. In Turkey in 1980s are a period which occurs a rapid political and social change. The social change which experienced in these years had revealed a new study case area in the position of social aspect of religion. One of the ways of making an analysis of the social change which experienced in Turkey, perception of religion and its interpretation from social aspect is examining the opinions of the "verb-masters" who contribute occurring social imagination. In this study, Sezai Karakoç and İdris Küçükömer who are coming from different traditions are chosen as sample. The social analyses and religious perceptions of these two intellectuals bear he stamp of the socio-cultural environment from they come. Because of that firstly, it is examined Sezai Karakoç's and İdris Küçükömer's socio-cultural environment where they are grown. And then, their opinions which can be accepted in the area of sociology of religion is analyzed. In the Introduction section of the study mentioned the purpose, significance and method of the subject. In the first section, it is dealt with the concept of intellectual and the social function of him/her. Plus, the social roles of intellectuals and the styles of occurring of this class. In the Second section it is handled with Sezai Karakoç's and İdris Küçükömer's works and the socio-cultural environment where they are grown. In the Third section it is evaluated the similar topics which these both intellectuals are handled title by title and these topics are compared with each other. In this section it is concluded that in Turkey Westernization's impact area is enlarged influence wider is both socially and politically. It is possible to see trails and criticisms of this topic in Karakoç and Küçükömer's works. Besides, it is beheld that the East and West concepts are one of the basic problems of Turkish intellectual which is handled. The focus themes of this study are the opinions and suggestions of the both intellectual concerning with mentioned social problems, and what functions is assigned to the religion concept at this point by them. Sezai Karakoç's and İdris Küçükömer's opinions about salvation of the country can be found in this section. Sezai Karakoç dwells on upon "Revival" idea, while İdris Küçükömer does "social society" idea. In the Conclusion section of the study, it is made a general evaluation of the handled topics in the context of sample.
