Abstract (EN)
This research aims to analyze the technical and stylistic characteristics of Turkish music percussion instruments used in symphonic works of Turkish composers. Descriptive analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study, and historical method and document analysis method were also used. For the research, the instruments commonly used in symphony orchestras were discussed within the scope of the theoretical framework. Then, Turkish music percussion instruments used in symphonic works of Turkish composers were explained. After the theoretical framework of the research was established, symphonic works of Turkish composers in which Turkish music percussion instruments were used were scanned by the literature review method. As a result of the scanning, the percussion instrument parts whose notes could be reached were described and analyzed technically and stylistically by document analysis method. The use of Turkish music percussion instruments in selected symphonic works of Ulvi Cemal Erkin, Nevit Kodallı, Ferit Tüzün, Muammer Sun and Fazıl Say was taken as a sample for the study. As a result of the research, it was determined that instruments such as darbuka, hanging drum, cymbal, cymbal, def, spoon, kudüm were used in the symphonic works of Turkish composers, and the authentic features of Turkish music percussion instruments were utilized especially in passages consisting of Turkish music motifs. It is thought that this study will bring the use of Turkish music percussion instruments in the writing of symphonic music to the academic platform and will serve as a study guide for composers and percussionists who will write symphonic music.
