Abstract (EN)

A mythologies are narratives that have tried to explain and make sense of the universe and existence since primitive man, shed light on the origins of beings and events, and provided information about the beliefs, traditions and customs of societies, and their cultures. In this context, mythologies can also be associated with the literature of the society they belong to. Indeed, myths are powerful narratives that can be a source for literature because they are narratives that deal with humans and their tendencies. For this reason, in understanding and making sense of modern literature, it is necessary to analyze the symbolic languages of myths in the senarratives and to determine their place in the fictional world of literature. In this context, first of all, mythology was defined and information was given about mythologies, their sources, characteristics and functions. The importance of mythologies, which have become a part of human life from the past to the present, and why people believe in mythologies in the modern age, where scientific knowledge is at the forefront, was questioned. The relationship between mythology and science and art was discussed. Then, the mythological elements, mythological ages and places in Turkish stories published between 1923-1960 were evaluated within the framework of the beliefs and cultural characteristics of the societies they belonged to. How these elements were processed in the works and how they were identified with the stories with in the fictional world were examined. In this study, the extent to which mythological elements come in to existence in the Turkish stories published between 1923-1960 and the extent to which these mythological elements contributed to the plot of the story were evaluated and examined.
