Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to analyse methods and difficulties in the translation of cultural terms which are contained in turkish fairy tales, in a descriptive approach. In order to carry out this survey, 40 fairy tales, from the collection of the folklorist Pertev Naili Boratav, which were translated into german in the book Türkische Volksmärchen (1990) were analysed.The most significant feature of cultural terms, which are of undeniable importance for the human being, is that it describes a completely unknown conception for a person from another culture. One of the greatest difficulties for a translator is to be confronted with unknown conceptions or events. Because numerous of these conceptions or events, which can be named as cultural terms are included in fairy tales, which are a reflectance of a societies culture, the source of this thesis was based on fairy tales. For a better understanding of the importance of cultural terms and of the difficulties their translation includes, the method was used to define these terms, to describe the relation between culture and fairy tales and finally to analyse the mehtod of the translation and to make some suggestions for their translation.Key words: fairy tales, fairy tales and culture, cultural terms, strategies and difficulties of the translation.
