Abstract (EN)

Since its beginning, cinema has uscd novels as q source and has produced adapted films. With hac widespread usage of television, novels have been wed as the subject of television series, and nowadays they have become an important resource for every producer throughout the world. Accordingly, in Turkey, since its beginning on TRT and then on private television channels, many novels have been adapted to the screen and these adaptations have always got great attantion. Adapted television series have always led to debates among readers, audience television and literary people. But for some years now, it can be seen that the criticisy of Tv series, which are adapted frow cantewporary writers on classics, have increascd a great deal. Noreover, it is obvious that these TV series dont satisfy anybody and as a result of this, these TV series are beiny removed from the broadcast one by one. The main purpose of this study is to put forword the adaptation process of novels to the screen and the problems that occur in this process by emphasizing the theoretical side of the subject.
