Abstract (EN)

After some technical, economic and sociologic changes, 20th century and later became a period which the issue of women was discussed a lot. Women's studies, which started in the West, also showed their influence in Turkey, and that started discussions on the identity, status and roles of women in Turkish society. In addition to religion, culture, demographic and economic structure, women's own mentality and the constructed perception of femininity had great impact on the perception of women in Turkish society. In this study titled "The Role of Women in The Formation of The Perception of Women in Turkish Society" a concept map was created on the concepts of society, socialization, power and alienation, and especially the alienation of women from their individual existence was emphasized. In the part of the study that constituted the field research the focus is on how gender inequalities that are thought to exist are perceived by women and how they are transmitted to the next generation. While the opinions of women on gender, gender roles, violence and feminism were being analyzed, the factors which caused gender inequality were examined. It is seen that the partipicating women, a least partially, got rid of patriarchal codes, did not impose the inequalites that were imposed on them on their daughters, approached hem with this understanding, but still restricted their lives in order to protect them. Underlying these inequalities lies the concern for security as well as tradition, religion and culture.
