Abstract (EN)

Disasters are events that have negative consequences on human life, causing physical, economic, and social losses. Human-induced and natural disasters often result in significant loss of life. Among natural disasters, forest fires, which are categorized as natural disasters, have been occurring more frequently each year due to the increasing effects of global warming. The importance of logistical planning and operations in preventing forest fires and in response during a fire is significant. In this context, this study aims to identify logistical problems experienced during forest fires in Turkey and propose solutions. A qualitative research methodology was employed in the study. Using purposive sampling, data were collected through face-to-face interviews with 14 firefighters who participated in the 2021 forest fires, utilizing semi-structured questionnaires. Audio recordings were made during the interviews. The content analysis revealed that while the logistical elements during the disaster were adequate, there were significant disruptions in communication and coordination activities during the disaster response.
