Abstract (EN)
In terms of the uncertainty created by exchange rate risk and the ambivalence about the future, volatility modelling has been gaining importance in the economics literature. This study analyses the effects of the Central Bank's interventions on exchange rate, and the volatility within exchange rates, through using ARFIMA-FIGARCH methods. Alongside the analysis, this thesis also includes the approaches on determining the exchange rate, the justifications and methods of intervening in foreign exchange market, and the interventions generated in both Turkey and other states in the global markets. It is found that between 2008 and 2016, the econometric model, for which the necessary conditions are taken granted, has been statistically significant. The results suggest that the interventions led by the Central Bank have affected the exchange rate volatility.
