Abstract (EN)

This academic work explores the main factors of entrepreneurial process movements in urban and rural areas in Turkey using the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM)'s Adult Population Survey (APS) Data. We estimate that education level, having an entrepreneurial network, income level and being able to see entrepreneurship opportunities cause more entrepreneurial activities in urban areas in Turkey than in rural areas. Through our analysis, we noticed that urban areas in Turkey share a certain share of entrepreneurship level compared to rural areas, except for income level. We found that education level, entrepreneurship opportunities and having an entrepreneurial network affect entrepreneurship more in urban areas compared to rural areas. The results show that policy makers should start combining education programs to cultivate the concept of entrepreneurship from a younger age, as well as fostering an entrepreneurial culture to strengthen future entrepreneurial prospects in rural areas in Turkey. KEYWORDS: Entrepreneurial Activity, Rural Areas, Urban Areas, Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), Binary Logistic Regression.
