Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Master of Science Thesis VARIOUS POWER FLOW AND ECONOMIC DISPATCH ANALYSES ON 380 kV-INTERCONNECTED POWER SYSTEM IN TURKEY ÜMMÜHAN BAŞARAN Anadolu University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Electrical and Electronics Engineering Program Supervisor: Assist. Prof. Mehmet KURBAN 2004, 117 pages In this thesis the power flow analysis is made, based on Turkey's interconnected power system which consists of 30 generation 35 load bus totaling 65 bus connected each other with 380 kV energy transmission lines, to find optimal operating points of a given system and to plan next-generation power systems. Moreover, based on another system, EÜAŞ's 380 kV 8 thermal plants with 22 bus, the power flow, optimal power flow analysis is performed and the plants are made to satisfy load demand with minimum cost using the second order gradient and economic dispatch with losses methods. All the power flow, optimal power flow and economic dispatch analysis are implemented using MATLAB®. Furthermore, due to the graphical user interface (GUI) the written programs can be used for different power systems' power flow, optimal power flow and economic dispatch analyses.
