Socıal Development Dımensıon Of Integrated Rural Development Project In Turkey: Erzurum Integrated Rural Development Project

Rural development which is a multidimensional process aims to minimize socio-economic differences of rural and urban, to solve socio-economic problems which causes migration from rural to urban.Rural development studies in Turkey started with the establishment of the Republic, and continues until today. Both rural and urban should develop in balanced for national development. So rural development has been important. In different regions of Turkey integrated rural development projects have been implemented. These projects? aim decrease social-economic differances between urban and rural region, improvement of infrastructure, increase local people's income, crop and animal production development, natural resource protection and increase the quality of life. Physical and economic investment in the projects are given procedence. Because increase in production levels provides to create an quality of life is assumed. In this study economic and social results of the first applied integrated rural development project (Erzurum Integrated Rural Development Project) in the Eastern Anatolian Region (This is undevelopment region of our country) are analysed and development that is a comprehensive process has social and ecenomic dimensions are stressed.In this study, primarily review of the literature for social dimension in rural development and integrated rural development has been, then indicators which are analysed social development in rural projects are identified. In Turkey rural structure and rural development projects are researched. Indicators which can be used to analysed social dimonsion of rural development are selected, suitable project and suitable data set are identified. Then investments of selected project and social-economic development level of region are evaluated comparatively.In this study, ?whether economic investments provide social development? the question?s answer is tryied to find and Erzurum Integrated Rural Development Project?s investments and social and economic structure in Erzurum are analysed and comparised.Keywords : Rural development, integrated rural development, social development
