Evaluation of airports' sustainability practices in Turkey using analytic hierarchy process

Abstract (EN)
Aim of this study is to increase business performance of airports and make airports's benefits increase upon society. A hierarchical airport sustainability model, which compose of sustainability criterias was created as a result of literature review. This model composed of four main sustainability criterias, 9 second degree and 36 sub-sustainability criterias. Survey studies were conducted, which include Analytic Hierarchy Process and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods to airport's staffs and managers. According to group decision airports were ranked. Surveys were conducted for Atatürk, Sabiha Gökçen, Adana, Esenboğa and Gaziantep Airports. Priority degrees of environmental criterias were found low, while priority degrees of operational and social criterias were higher according to research results. In addition, according to the ranking results were made with the sustainability criterias, Sabiha Gökçen Airport was in the first place and Adana Airport was the last place in the ranking.
