Abstract (EN)

This study examines the technical, economic and environmental benefits of meeting the electricity consumption of sugar factories located in six different geographical regions of Turkey with the most appropriate solutions using photovoltaic solar energy and wind turbines. In this way, it is aimed to both reduce greenhouse gases generated as a result of activities carried out only in certain months of the year in facilities such as sugar factories in Turkey and to determine the amount of energy that can be generated with renewable energy sources and evaluated outside the relevant facility during the months when these factories are not in production. The total production volume of Ağrı, Konya, Burdur, Adapazarı, Afyonkarahisar and Kastamonu sugar factories in the six geographical regions is 635,375 tons of sugar, while the total electrical energy consumed is at the level of 40.87 MW. This consumption creates a greenhouse gas production of 34.64 tons in the most optimistic case. The production volumes of sugar factories were obtained from the relevant websites of official institutions, and the electricity consumption data were obtained from Konya Sugar Factory, which is specified in this study and accepted as the pilot region. Electricity consumption data obtained from the pilot region were generalized to other sugar factories in proportion to their production volumes. Homer Pro Professional Simulation Program was used in the study. Homer Pro Professional Simulation Program was used in the study. Simulation outputs obtained as a result of the analysis were also evaluated using the TOPSIS method, one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods.
