Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is choosing appropriate glass types for theheating period and structuring a glass rating system according toTurkish degree day regions for low rise residential buildings. Therefore, calculation methods due to energy performances, related standardsand rating systems for windows are all reviewed.Performance indicators are determined and the window types arechosen for further research. The framework, boundary conditions andassumptions of the model are elaborated. The factors that effect energyconsumption of varying glass types are determined for the heatingperiod, net energy balance formula is structured and finally A and Bcoefficients of Qnet values for 4 degree day regions are obtained forreferance building.Performances of varying glass types are calculated with the help ofExcel formulations that are prepared for the example model. Thegraphics are assessed and appropriate glass types are proposed foreach degree day region for the heating period.Science Code : 804.1.144Key Words : Windows, glazing, residential buildings, energy performance, energy rating system, heating periodPage Number : 149Adviser : Prof. Dr. Gönül UTKUTUĞ
