Abstract (EN)
This paper aims to investigate the current adaptation progress of Turkish football clubs to "Financial Fair Play (FFP) Regulations" which are designed and applied by UEFA, in order for rapidly emerging and commercializing European football industry to maintain its growth, financially healthy. In this study, "Financial Sustainability Analysis of Public Football Clubs in Turkey" is demonstrated for the leading 3 football clubs of Turkey, all of which aims to achieve success, both in "Turkish Super League" and European football tournaments at the same time. The first part of our dissertation covers the concept, historical development, economic dimension and emergence of football as an industry. In the second part, "UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations" frameworks are considered due to expectations of UEFA from clubs to meet the required quality standarts as a result of football's industrial positioning. Our third part offers the assessment of public football clubs, "Beşiktaş J.K.", "Galatasaray S.K." and "Fenerbahçe S.K." in terms of "Break Even Calculations" which is one of the major components of "UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations" by considering the negotations that are signed between UEFA and related clubs. Considering the first 6 month data of 2015/16 season, we may easily notice that "Galatasaray S.K." hasn't been able to fulfill its undertakings and has a high probability of encountering a penalty that will be charged by UEFA. On the other side, "Beşiktaş J.K." and "Fenerbahçe S.K." show a positive progress of their financial balance due to the data examined and are expected to meet their commitments and carry on stably till the end of the specified season.
