The role of agriculture in the development finance in Turkey

Nowadays, societies want to obtain better life conditions and determine their needs for those conditions according to economic, social and cultural differences. Although those differences, the basic needs of the people like nourishment are similar. Some countries even are not capable to meet those basic needs and continue their lives under minimum living conditions.When the general features of underdeveloped countries are examined, these countries are defined according to their economic or social differences time to time. Their stages of development are defined by concepts such as ?developed, underdeveloped or developing? countries that are used in the literature of development studies. Accumulation of capital and financing issues are the initial basic problems that are encountered by the countries which are in the aim of development. Overcoming the problems of accumulation of capital and resource procurement that are encountered in the process of industrialization and development becomes a necessity in those countries. Determining the amount of resources which is needed in financing the development is extremely important. Agriculture is the leading sector in those countries. Agricultural sector is both vital and has a prominent role of providing finance in the process of development in most of the underdeveloped countries.In terms of its basic features, agricultural sector is the dominant form of production and the conveyor of the relations of production in any country. In this context, it has pivotal roles in the Turkish economy. Especially after the 1980?s -together with the liberalization tendencies and the removal of the government support-, the employment rate in the sector approximately decreased 30% and the agricultural sector provided cheap labor for the other sectors. Besides its prevalence in the Turkish economy, the agricultural sector provides raw material and nourishment and also a central pillar for the industrialization of the country. In this study, the current situation of the sector will be taken up by periodically analyzing the roles given to agriculture in the development of Turkey.
