Comparative evaluation of construction management education in civil engineering undergraduate programs in Türkiye and KKTC

Construction management is a long and complex process that lasts from the planning stage to the completion of the building and the end of the demolition process. In this thesis, it is aimed to evaluate the construction management education given at the undergraduate level in civil engineering programs in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), to display its current status, to analyze the course contents and to compare the course and course contents given in the two countries. For this purpose, civil engineering undergraduate programs of all universities (state and foundation) in Turkey and TRNC were included in the scope of the research. In conclusion; As of September 2022, it has been observed that there are civil engineering programs in 117 universities in Turkey, of which 61 universities have construction management and related courses. It has been observed that there are civil engineering programs in 9 universities in the TRNC, and construction management and related courses are offered in 7 universities. When the contents of the courses were examined, it was determined that there was approximately 80% similarity, and the majority of the course used the name of the course as concruction management. In addition, it has been seen that project management and construction management are among the names that are frequently used. In addition, it has been seen that project management and production management are among the names that are frequently used. Construction management and related courses are not only civil engineering but also architecture, business etc. disciplines should also be included in the training plan. In addition, not only in undergraduate education, but also in graduate education, the subject should be put into practice in more detail and for specialization.
