Abstract (EN)

The phenomenon of housing has affected human life in many ways from past to present. Especially the housing problem that emerged after the migration to the cities in the 1950s along with the industrialization has affected the cities physically and socially. The acceleration of the urbanization movement and the development of economic policies have led to a number of transformation points in the housing sector. The transformations in the sector have revealed housing areas to reflect the lifestyle of individuals. Gated residents as an example of these residential areas began to demonstrate after the 1980s. Gated residents have created a special area for their users and provided advantages in many areas. At the same time, it created a social and physical impact on urban space and prevented the formation of urban integrity. In this study, the effects of gated residents as one of the new housing areas in Diyarbakır on the individuals' lives and the changes that city culture demonstrates have been discussed.
