An investigation of Turkish mathematics educators in terms of academic works

Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, it is aimed to set forth the academic profiles of instructors working in the field of mathematics education in Turkey. The regional distributions of master and doctoral programs in the field are also examined. This study employs a descriptive approach with survey method. Within the context of this study, 443 instructors working in the departments of primary mathematics education 2014 have been determined. Among them, 411 were contacted via emails. The purpose of this study was sketched out to the instructors with whom communication was provided and academic CVs of these instructors were requested. As a result of the analysis of data acquired in this manner, it was seen that the maximum number of instructors working in the field belongs to the assistant professor doctor (39,73%) and research associate (33,41%) staffs. It was also established that the number of ones taken doctorate in the field of mathematics education among the instructors that have the title of professor doctor is very few (15,78%). The results show that mathematics educators tend to publish articles in national journals (88.02%) while those working in the field of mathematics vastly publish in international journals (89.30%). The results also showed that conference presentation per academics with the title of professor is the highest (13.14) for the national conferences. However, the group of academics with associated professor doctor title is the group with the highest average making presentations in international conferences (12.13 presentations per academic).
