According to collections and geographical differences the study of type projects applied onto the Turkish museum buildings

The activities which started with the founding of the first museumat Saint Irene, couldn't be improved till the Republics period, because Ottoman Empire, which was in a miserable situation, couldn't afford the necessary investments about the museums. Osman Hamdi Bey had tried personally to accomplish to necessary mines for the museums and so İstanbul Archeology museum building was build. By the period of Republics some legal and institutional formations, which were needed to the preserve the cultural property, have been made. In this period new museums have been established in the cities of Turkey. However most of them are small museums or storages of the museums. Although the new movement of establishment was stopped between 1940 and 1960, because of the negative effects of the second Word War on the economical system it's begun after the year of 1960. In this period, a lot of new museum buildings were built. Some of these museum buildings were built depending on the museum project, prepared by the National Ministry of Education. This situation is known to be " an application of a typical project" which wasn't planned before. The aim of the thesis is to research the reasons for applying the mentioned museums' typical project and considering the advantages and the disadvantages of the typical projects according to the modem thought of museum architecture. In the first chapter "the architecture" and " the process of the architectural design", the fact of "the typical project" in architecture has been considered. In the second chapter, the description of the modern museum and its functions have been explained. The improvement of the museum buildings in the world IVand Turkey have been observed and how the typical museum projects in Turkey had been, and where they had been applied, is explained as well as the information about these museums. In the third chapter, choosing three of the museums, which were built depending on the typical museum project, they have been considered within the contemporary concept of museology. In the fourth chapter the results and the proposals are discussed.
