Abstract (EN)

The use of energy resources in many sectors such as electricity, industry, transportation and housing has made these resources an indispensable element of human life. However, the oil crises in the 1970s led to an increase in oil prices in the international market and the energy importing countries were affected negatively. As a result of rising energy prices and increasing environmental pollution world countries have started to care about generating energy through renewable energy sources, which is an alternative to fossil energy sources. Turkey's total imports, the average share of the country's energy imports to rise to 20% of the increase in dependence on fossil energy imports and hence energy costs led to a rise in current account deficit. Turkey's domestic energy production, in order to meet the energy demand in the country is necessary to increase the energy production through renewable and nuclear power plants. In this study; 1923-2018 years in Turkey's domestic energy production and policies that apply for energy imports, oil fields among Moving from fossil fuels industry reports, natural gas, production of coal resources, consumption, import and export data were analyzed. In order to reduce the share of energy imports in the current deficit, suggestions were made to increase the efficiency of renewable energy power plants in the country and to reduce the dependence on fossil energy imports through the establishment of nuclear power plants. Key words: Turkey, Energy, Import, Current Deficit, Foreign Trade Deficit
