Turkey's immigration policy and Syrian asylum seekers

The main purpose emphasized in this thesis was that millions of Syrians left their countries and took refuge in Turkey as a result of the internal conflicts in Syria and the management of migration by Turkey both legally and administratively. The study consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, related concepts are explained and conceptual ambiguity is tried to be removed. In addition, again in the first chapter, theories about migration in general and its causes and consequences are mentioned. The causes and consequences of migration with the relevant theories were tried to be explained by the migration movement of Syrian refugees. In the second chapter, historically, the migration movements that took place towards Turkey from the proclamation of the Republic until today are explained periodically. In the third and last chapter, the migration movements of Syrian refugees, the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey both in temporary refuge centers and outside the refuge centers, and the legal and administrative regulations of Turkey regarding the said migration movement are included and the security and economic effects of the said migration movement on Turkey have been tried to be emphasized. In addition, by referring to the data on Syrian refugees' Turkish citizenship, it has been tried to give attention to the historical order of Turkey's migration policies from past to present. As a result of the Arab Spring, the spread of the events to Syria and the long border neighbor of Syria with Turkey, it has been observed that the migration influx affected Turkey from different angles and especially the economic dimension of migration took the first place on Turkey. As a result of this influx of refugees, Turkey has taken some legal steps and tried to resolve the status problem of those who came in the first place.
