Investigation of the possibilities to increase Turkey's marbles export

Abstract (EN)

Turkey has approximately 42% of the total world marble reserves (13.5 billion tonnes) with 4.7 meter cup. However, only 2% of these reserves are currently being utilized. The marble production of Turkey has shown a gradual increase starting from 1990s. Turkey?s marble production was 3.2 million tonnes in 2005 and ıt?s marble export which was 805 million $ was the first total mining export with 53 % in Turkey. It?s export was increased 19.2 % in 2006. At january-May 2007, marble export increased 2% according to january-may 2006. With this raise, in spıte of the best of the world about marble export, when ıt is thought Turkey?s marble qualities and reserves, ıt is not enough. Therefore, in these works ıt is presented the methods of Turkey?s marble export recognized. It is necessary that the marble production and export firms must be given necessary provisions and concessions and they must sell the last products with modern tecnology for the development of the marble sector in the country. It is necessary to carry out advertisement and investment activities in order to have our marbles internationally recognized. Key words: Turkey, marble potential, marble production, marble export.
