Abstract (EN)
The Growth Dynamics of The Turkish Healthcare Sector in The Years 2003-2023 Yeditepe University, Institute of Health Science, Department of Health Care Management MSc thesis, İstanbul. In this study, the growth dynamics of the health sector in Turkey in the period of 2003-2023 were examined from a multidimensional perspective. As of 2003, when the Health Transformation Program was put into practice; structural changes in health service delivery, the relationship between health expenditures and economic growth, the increasing role of the private sector in the health sector, public-private partnership models, developments in health outcomes, share of health expenditures in GDP, public-private health expenditure ratios, health service infrastructure investments, health workforce growth, health financing mechanisms are analyzed holistically and through secondary data. The data obtained from OECD, TurkStat, Ministry of Health, SSI and Development Plan reports are presented and interpreted in graphical and tabular form, and the structural, economic and political factors in the background of sectoral growth are revealed The findings show that there has been significant growth in the Turkish health sector, but it is still not sufficient and stable, and that there are structural threats and opportunities for the sustainability of this growth. It is observed that Turkey has increased its service capacity and satisfaction level in healthcare in the last 20 years, but this growth should be carefully managed in terms of economic sustainability and resource efficiency. As a result, it emphasizes that growth in health should be evaluated not only with an increase in the amount of services, but also with service quality, financial sustainability and social benefit, and provides recommendations for policymakers on this issue to evaluate and update health policies within the scope of continuous improvement with a holistic assessment in terms of growth sustainability and social impacts. Keywords: Growth, Health, Health Transformation Program, Health Expenditures
