Civil aviation in Turkey and emergency planning at airports: Example of Batman and Diyarbakir Airports

The aviation sector has quickly become an important transportation route along with the first controlled flight. The development of modern aircraft has allowed aviation to grow in different branches. The rapid recovery of civil aviation, one of its most important branches, is increasing interest in airlines. The sectoral-based growth of Civil Aviation has led to the occurrence of some negative situations. A plane crash, which is one of the main negative ones, is a big problem. Due to the widespread spread of aircraft accidents, institutions have been established related to the countries that take on the necessary responsibility for maintaining aviation. The State Airports Authority (DHMI) and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) in Turkey assume this responsibility. Airports affiliated to the State Airports Authority (DHMI) prepare plans according to the type of emergency that will occur. This thesis work consists of two main themes. In the first one, the rapidly developing civil aviation activities in Turkey were examined and all the studies were examined in detail.In its other main theme, the scope and effectiveness of emergency planning for all adverse conditions that may occur at Batman and Diyarbakır Airports were evaluated. In the first part of the study, the missions and visions of institutions, organizations that are working for the birth of civil aviation and the maintenance of international civil aviation activities are examined.In the second chapter, the development of civil aviation in Turkey and all the factors affecting this development are discussed. In the third part of the thesis study, the studies that provide effective and correct intervention in the events or disasters that may occur at Batman and Diyarbakır Airports were carefully examined.
