Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to examine the impact of the tourism sector on economic growth and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism sector. In this study, the importance of the problems experienced by the tourism sector in the pandemic process in terms of economic growth is discussed. This research aimed to examine the relationship between tourism revenues and COVID-19 cases. Data were collected for different countries or regions on an annual basis or at specific time intervals. Using panel data analysis methods, the relationship between tourism revenues and COVID-19 cases was statistically evaluated. Tourism, which is directly related to the country's income, has made a great contribution to the reduction of the GDP and the current account deficit. It has been found that the relationship between tourism and economic growth during the pandemic process is directly proportional to each other and has a positive effect. This research aimed to determine the relationship between tourism revenues and COVID-19. The results have contributed to our understanding of the impacts of the tourism industry during the COVID-19 pandemic and to shape future tourism policies. Studies have determined that tourism revenues also have great effects on economic growth. The results of the research are summarized and the importance of the findings in terms of practice, theory and policy is emphasized. In addition, recommendations for future research are presented.
