An approach to education of tourism guide in Turkey

ABSTRAC In this study, cultural representatives of tourism industry, tourist guides educational proficiencies are examined by giving the definition of tourism and guideness and also the importance of tourism emphasized within historical perspective. The functions of travel agents and tour operators are also defined and some examples about tours are given by explaining the contributions of tourist guides. In addition to this the functions of the staff who joined to the tours are also mentioned in this study. The educational programmes about tourist guideness at the universities and related departments like ministry of tourism and other institutions are also determined, by the help of some documents about these programmes, foreign countries educational programmes are handled. In the last chapter questionary is applied to the tourist guides related to the adequency of their educations and hind of survey research is studied, the datas are presented in charts and brieg result is given.
