In this study, the meaning and function characters according toconstructive suffixes that the Derived nouns take in Turkish used in Turkey wereanalyzed and a research was made on how this information is used in Turkishgrammar lessons in 6-7-8 grades in elementary schools.Derived nouns in Turkish used in Turkey were found in spellingdictionary and Turkish dictionary (TDK, Ankara, 2005). A list of Derived nounswas formed. The words determined are classified according to their suffixes. Thesuffixes making nouns from nouns and suffixes making nouns from verbs weredetermined.The meanings and the function properties that the suffixes put to thewords were determined.It was searched how The Derived nouns were taught in the lessons byanalyzing syllabus program of Turkish lesson.There have been advises about using the information taken from thisresearch in teaching Turkish grammar lessons.Key words: Derived nouns, constructive suffixes, teaching of Turkish
