A taxsonomic study on Chesneya LINDL.(Fabaceae)genus distributed in Turkey

In this study, Chesneya Lindl. ex Endl.types from Fabaceae family which shows deployment around Turkey morphological, anatomical, cariologic and palinological researches have been done. Chesneya type is represented in Turkey with two species. These are Chesneya elagans Fomin in Monit. and Chesneya rytidosperma Jaub. & Spach. The samples for C.rytidosperma have been gathered from Elazığ rocky slopes above Kömürhan Bridge of the dam, and the samples for C. elagans have been gathered rocky slopes around Günlüce Vilage from Oltu county of Erzurum. C. elagans is an endemic species. This study gives the results of morphological, anatomical, cariological and palinological analysis for the species of C. elagans and C. rytidosperma. Both species of many years has stake roots C. rytidosperma has 10?40 cm long and C. elagans has 8?25 cm long creeping body. The leaves are shaped as orbicular in C. rytidosperma and obovat in C. elagans. In anatomy part of the study, roots, bodies and leaves of both species have been analyzed. There are 8-10 layered peridermis in C. rytidosperma and 5?7 layered peridermis in C. elagans species in outer surface of root cross-sections. In cross-section of stem, 13?14 and 10?12 vascular bundles are present in C. rytidosperma and C. elagans respectively. In each two species, there is a parenchmatic pith area. In examination of leaf cross-section, while 1?2 layered palisade parenchyma is present in C. rytidosperma, it is 2?3 layered palisade parenchyma in C. elagans. In this study, cariotype analysis belongs to species have been done. Chromosome numbers and cariotype analysis for species have been accomplished first time in Turkey. Determined chromosome numbers for both species (C.elagans and C.rytidosperma) were found as 2n= 2x= 16. This study also emphasizes the palinolojical conclusions about the species. Pollens of both species were symetrical, isopolar and tricolporat.
