Tûsî and his approach to Qur'anic sciences

The present study examines Ebu Cafer et-Tûsî's approach to Quranic sciences in his Commentary: "et-Tibyan Fî Tefsîri'l-Kur'ân". Tûsî is a versatile commentator who is the author of two books of "al-Kutub al-Arbaa" which are the four main hadith books of the Imamiyyah. The study consists of an introduction, three main chapters and a conclusion. Information about the subject, purpose, method and sources of the research is given in the introduction. In the first chapter, the environment in which the commentator lived in terms of political, scientific and social structure is analyzed and also his life, teachers, students and his studies are addressed. Beside this, information about his commentary and its purpose of writing is pointed out. In the second chapter, the Qur'anic Sciences based on al-riwayah such as qira'at, naskh, stories which the commentator emphasized are examined. In the third chapter, the Qur'anic Sciences based on al-dirayah the commentator emphasized are also considered in two groups in terms of language and meaning.
