Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Ph.D. Thesis DEVELOPING A METHOD FOR AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE PLANNING RELIABILITY ANALYSIS Meriç ALPER Anadolu University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Civil Aviation Program Supervisor : Professor Musa ŞENEL, Ph.D. 2000 The determination of a maintenance standard and policy for a system in accordance to usage conditions is one of the most important problems for system users. In general, countries or corporations which manufacture systems determine system maintenance and policy according to their conditions. However, in systems working under different conditions this may cause an increase in costs for communication, maintenance and support, which in turn effects the reliability of the system adversely. The goal of this study is to determine a maintenance standard and policy for F110-GE-100 engines according to usage conditions of our country. The two most damaged parts of F110-GE-100 engines of the F-16 aircraft were taken into consideration and a reliability analysis was performed based on real data. The study put forth showed that the maintenance plan developed by the system manufacturing country does not agree with the actual conditions of our country, due to the fact that our aircraft have a different mission profile and therefore needs to be tailored to our countries requirements.
