Abstract (EN)

The concept of electromagnetic compatibility is a topic that is becoming increasingly important as electronic devices find more and more space in people's lives. In many areas of the world, international organizations or governments issue guidelines on the subject and constantly update these guidelines as technology evolves. The aviation industry is subject to harsh rules regarding safety protocols. All equipment and subsystems used in aircraft go through rigorous qualification processes. Electromagnetic compatibility is vital to this challenging qualification process for avionic equipment. One of the essential parts of in-flight entertainment systems used in aircraft, especially on long-haul flights, are seatback display units. This equipment which is the one for each passenger on the plane causes intense electromagnetic noise due to the large number of them. The electromagnetic noise generated should not prevent the other avionics equipment in the aircraft from performing their duties without any problems. The said seatback imaging unit should also fulfil its duty without being affected by the electromagnetic noise of other avionic equipment in the aircraft or the electromagnetic noise emitted from the personal portable electronic equipment used by the passengers. At this point, electromagnetic compatibility tests of imaging equipment used in the in-flight seatback are carried out by internationally accepted aviation standards. In this thesis, the details that should contemplate in establishing the test setups and planning the test process has given to carry out the relevant tests reliably and accurately. These details are vital as they can directly affect the test results. Consequently, the test improvements that could be for designing the imaging units with the electromagnetic compatibility point of view had included.
