Abstract (EN)
Türkiye hosts the largest number of refugees in the world. As a result, foreign migrants and the local population interact socially in many cities. One of these cities is Edirne. This study discusses the mutual attitudes of foreign migrants and the local population living in Edirne, which stands out as Turkey's gateway to Europe, under the discipline of social psychology. The research utilized a mixed-method approach, specifically the convergent parallel design. Quantitative data obtained from scales were analyzed using SPSS 25. A significant relationship was found among the scales. Qualitative data were analyzed using semi-structured interview forms and MAXQDA 24. The research concluded that while the local population tends to have negative attitudes towards migrants, the migrants tend to have more positive attitudes towards the local population. It is believed that this research will provide a different perspective in the development of policies regarding the mutual attitudes of these groups.
