Abstract (EN)

The Syrian civil war refers to a complex set of internal and external dynamics that emerged with the popular uprisings that started in 2011 and turned into a multi-actor conflict environment in a short time. In this chaotic environment, radical organizations such as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) have effectively organized by exploiting the emerging authority vacuum and have dominated a wide geography, including the lands where they were founded. ISIS has taken on a structure that targets global jihad and carries out attacks around the world. In this context, the organization has attracted attention both in terms of its ideological spread and its strategies for international terrorism. The war environment in Syria has created a fertile ground for ISIS's radicalization, recruitment, logistics and propaganda activities. The international community has conducted various military and intelligence operations to counter the threat of ISIS, but the organization's flexible structure, effective online propaganda activities, and the influx of international fighters have increased the difficulties of the struggle. The group has become a global threat by declaring a caliphate in 2014, encouraging lone wolf attacks, especially in Western countries. As a result, the role of ISIS in the Syrian civil war should be considered not only as part of an internal conflict, but also as a new dimension of international terrorism . The rise of the organization and its expansion strategy is also important in terms of showing how non-state actors can threaten international security. Keywords: International, Terrorism, Syrian ISIS
