Abstract (EN)

Ümidi, (H.979/ C.1571) who lived in 16th Century, is one of the Divan poets of Kanuni Epoch. In our study, the information is given about the life, the art, the literary identity and the Divan of Ümidi, and it is tried to put forward the Divan text with criticism, taking advantage of the system of transcription.It?s not known any other work of Ümidi?s Divan. The Divan of Ümidi consists of 4 encomium, 229 ghazal and one quatrain. Ümidi has written his encomium to to Sultan 2 nd Selim, Hoca-zade Mehmet Efendi and Kadı-zade Ahmet Efendi. The poet has few works in encomium and quatrain styles and he has no work in other kinds, so we can say that he is a ghazal poet.One of the common feature of the poets in 16 th Century that they have generally used neat Turkish and idioms. Ümidi has used plain language in most of his poems. He benefits from quite pretty idioms while creating familiar features. Ümidi whose fame is getting higher in his term, adapts the style of Baki, we can understand from both Tezkire and nazire that he has mostly written, and also the poems has written in familiear style.It?s thought the Divan of Ümidi?s text with critic to be useful to be put forward the mentality oh the poem of 16th Century. Eventually, it is tried to inform about Ümidi?s life and works, and to be gained him to ar culture and literary world.
