Abstract (EN)

This thesis analyzes the existing problems in the course scheduling processes at Dokuz Eylül University İzmir Vocational School. It was determined that manual or semi-manual methods have high error rates, frequent conflicts, and lengthy scheduling processes. To address these problems, academic studies in the relevant field and solutions from similar schools were examined, and a literature review was conducted. The results were evaluated, and a web-based course scheduling application was developed to solve the problem. Comparison was made using two methods: classical constraint-based calculation and genetic algorithm. The Genetic Algorithm (GA) based solution was found to be more successful, providing significant improvements such as reduced conflicts and shorter scheduling times. These findings are consistent with studies in the literature indicating that the Genetic Algorithm performs successfully in complex scheduling problems.
