Abstract (EN)

Thermal comfort and indoor air quality in university classrooms and public area are essential requirements to maximize productivity performance. This study shows the results of a field study about indoor thermal comfort and indoor air quality based on investigations in university classrooms and public area. The field study was performed in the Korkut Ata University and governorship of Osmaniye, during non-heating period. The methodology is based on objective parameters and subjective survey. Both objective parameters and subjective surveys were performed at the same time during the regular lecture period and working hours. The objective parameters consisted of environmental parameters such as air temperature, air relative humidity (RH) and CO2 concentrations. A low cost data acquisition system is designed and produced to obtain environmental parameters. The survey included basic information such as gender, age, activity level, and clothing. The judgments about the thermal environment such as perceptions of the temperature and the humidity, odor intensity, the air quality, thermal comfort levels votes and symptoms related in Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) were also collected. Survey and monitored data are analyzed with a computer program SPSS known as statistical program. Thermal sensation, thermal acceptability and productivity were evaluated via cross tabulation and chi-square independence tests. Key Words: Indoor Air Quality, Thermal Comfort, CO2 concentrations, Sick Building Syndrome
