Abstract (EN)

Objective : The study is aimed to examine the relationship between personality traits and heart rate variability for virtual reality (VR) dart shooting and real dart shooting in university students engaged in darts recreationally. Material and Methods : The sample of the study consists of 17 female and 23 male (N=40) aged 18 and over university students engaged in darts recreationally. For participants, Socio-Demographic Information Form by the researcher and the 5 Factor Personality Inventory Short Form were administered. Heart rate variability was measured with the BioTrace+ Nexus-10 device, related accessories, and its software. Virtual reality environment was created through HTC Vive virtual reality glasses system. Virtual reality dart shooting was performed with the game "VR Dart". Findings : A correlation was found between heart rate variability, heart rate and respiration obtained during real dart throwing and personality traits only between mean respiration and openness to improvement trait. No correlation was found in virtual reality dart throwing. Therefore, it can be said that the relationship between psychophysiological variables and personality traits in virtual and real dart throwing is quite limited. In addition, no significant difference was found when the changes of psychophysiological variables from the resting part to the throwing part in virtual and real dart throwing were compared. This suggests that psychophysiological responses during virtual reality dart throwing and real dart throwing are similar. Keywords : Virtual Reality, HRV, Dart Throw, Personality
