Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the predictive role of attachment level on irrational beliefs in romantic relationships. The independent variable of the study is attachment. The dependent variable of the study is the irrational beliefs of university students in romantic relationships. The universe of the study is the students who study in 2017-2018 Academic Year. The study group consists of volunteer students who attend education Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Nursing at Akdeniz University. The study group consisted of 497 students, 340 female and 157 male. The ages of the students are between 18-29 years. Attachment-Based Mental Representation Scale, Irrational Beliefs in Romantic Relationships Scale and Personal Information Form were used to collect the research data. As a result of multiple regression analysis, it was found that positive self and negative self scores of attachment styles sub-dimensions significantly predicted excessive expectations and mind reading scores in romantic relationships. It was determined that positive self and negative mother scores significantly predicted social time use scores, while negative mother and negative self scores significantly predicted gender differences in romantic relationships. Positive mother, positive self and negative mother scores significantly predicted different thinking scores in romantic relationships. Finally, none of the attachment styles subscales significantly predicted physical proximity scores alone.
