Abstract (EN)

In this research, we aimed to examine that if there is any significant differenceamong Canakkale Onsekiz March University? students? body image satisfaction and socialskills ability. We controlled university students? body satisfaction and social skills ability inframe of gender, grade level and university entry score type. These differences were servicedin respect of students? own expressions.In this research, body image satisfaction and social skills ability were explainedthrough grade level, gender and university entry score types and if there are significantdifferences between body image satisfaction and social skills ability. We aimed to explainwhere these differences occur. This research was done with survey method. 1054 universitystudents were taken as a sample. ?Social Skills Inventory? that developed by Riggio(1986)and was adapted into Turkish by Yüksel(2004) was used for defining university? studentssocial skills. In order to define university students? body image satisfaction, we used ?BodyParts and It? Features Satisfaction Inventory? that was adapted into Turkish byGökdoğan(1988). But Gökdoğan adapted this inventory for high school students. Therefore,the researcher has done this inventory? reliability and validity analysis on university students.Results were controlled by frequency analysis, t test, one way anova and tukey tests accordingto SPSS(Statistical Package For Social Science).The significant differences between university students? body image satisfaction andsocial skills ability were controlled for examining differences between general body imagescores and six lower social skills scales. In the end of the research, we found that boys? bodyimage satisfaction levels are higher than girls? body image satisfaction levels. Conversly, wefound that girls? social skills ability levels are higher than boys? social skills ability levels.Only in affective control lower social skills scale, we found that boys have higher scores thangirls. When we have examined general research results, we can say that there is no significantdifferences between university students body image satisfaction and social skills ability.
