Analysing of relation between college students emotional i̇ntelligence and their levels of self-compassion

This examination's aim is to analyse relation between college students' emotional intelligence and their levels of self-compassion and developing suggestions regarding these relations. Examinition's scope is the college student of Yıldız Teknik University studying in 2014-2015 academic year, and its sample is the group of 300 student (girls-157, boys-143) in college of education and faculty of engineering; 1,2,3,4. grades. Data collecting mediums are: Turkish reliability and validity study developed by Neff (2003b), self-compassion scale developed Deniz, Kesici and Sümer (2008), Turkish version of reliability and validity study by Petrides and Furnham (2000, 2001) and emotional intelligence questionnaire characteristics (EIQC) BY Deniz, Özer, Işık (2013). Questionnaire of some personal information is used for students attending to this research. This research has chosen relationally surveillance through general surveillanca patterns. Percentage and frequency distribution related to the datas obtained by the scales and questionnaires used in the research are determined, results are interpretde in findings section. İn the resarch, at statistical analyse for the information obtainde with the data collection instruments, SPSS WİNDOWS 15.0 package is used. Tests used in the analyse of datas are: frequency, avarage, t-test, correlational analyse, anova test and some multiple comparisons tests. As a result of the research, avarage point of college students' emotional intelligence differentiate dramatically related to sexe, structure of family, attitude of parents variables but according to variables of class, graduated high scholl, environment in which they lived, number of siblings, situtation of being which child, change of teacher in the primary school no differentiation is founded. College students' average points of self- compassion differentiate significantly according to attitude of parents but acording to the other variables there's no meaningful differentiation. College students' average points of emotional intelligence and their average points os self-compassion are related in a positive way. Key words: Emotional İntelligence, Self-Compassion
