Abstract (EN)

Regular participation of university students in physical activities is a need for their health and fitness. In Turkey, there is no study about university students' habitual physical activity level. This study aims to investigate the school (work), sport and leisure-time habitual physical activity and the difference between male and female university students' school years. Participants of this study consisted of 591 male and 1068 female, a total of 1659 students from Education Faculty in Amasya University. Baecke's Questionnaire of Habitual Physical Activity was used. For comparisons among groups t-test and analysis of variance were used. The results of this study showed that there were significant differences between male and female students in the terms of physical characteristics, school, and sport and leisure time habitual physical activity and life satisfaction level. Female participation rate was only higher than that of males in leisure time activity. The averages of age, body height, and work index were differentiated according to years attended to school in males. Also, the average body weight in females changed among classes for a year than dropped the next. No significant correlation was observed among school, and sport and leisure time habitual physical activity and life satisfaction level. Consequently, habitual physical activity level of university students was the moderate level in school and leisure time activities while it was lower in sport activities. School and sport index averages were differentiated among classes. Keywords: School, Leisure Time, Sports, Habitual Physical Activity,Life Satisfaction.
