Investigation of university students' levels of perfectionism in terms of imposter phenomenon and self criticism

Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this research is to examine the perfectionism levels of university students in terms of self-criticism and dishonesty phenomena. The study group of the research consists of 547 students studying at the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Letters and Faculty of Sports Sciences at Akdeniz University. The application was carried out in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. As data collection tools used in the research, Slaney et al. (2021) and adapted to Turkish by Öngen (2009), Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale, developed by Thompson and Zuroff (2004) and adapted to Turkish by Öngen (2006). The adapted Self-Criticism Scale and the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher were used. SPSS 28.00 and SPSS 26.00 package programs were used in the statistical analysis of the data. To examine the relationships between variables, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, Independent Sample T-Test to determine whether perfectionism differs in terms of gender, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine whether perfectionism differs in terms of general weighted GPA were performed. Additionally, self-criticism and dishonesty phenomena explain 50% of the variance in perfectionism. Perfectionism does not differ in terms of gender and GPA.
