Abstract (EN)
Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between continuity breaking and perceived social support in emerging adults who are university students. Method: The participants of the research consist of a total of 2168 university students studying in Eskişehir in the 2023-2024 academic year, 1165 of whom are women and 1003 of whom are men. Research data were collected through the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, the Continuity Break Identification Scale prepared by the researcher, and the Personal Information Form. In this research, the quantitative method was followed and the data was analyzed with the relational scanning method. Results: It has been observed that continuity break has a negative correlation with perceived social support. Based on this result, it is deemed important to include and encourage contexts in which university students can establish relationships with social support elements in university social life. It is also recommended that educational guidance activities be organized by university mental health institutions in order to ensure healthy close relationships. It was observed that continuity breaks did not show a significant difference according to accommodation place and class level. It is deemed important to include different variables that may be effective in university students experiencing continuity breaks in other studies to contribute to the literature. Keywords: Continuity break, Continuity principle, Quarterage crisis, Developmental crisis, Emerging adulthood, Perceived social support, College adjustment.
