Abstract (EN)

There are many plant species consumed for medical purposes in our country. Many of these plants have been reported to have antimicrobial activities. In addition, it was emphasized that antioxidant substances, including some fruits and vegetables, have protective activities against cancer, cardiovascular diseases and it has been observed consumers tend to buy products rich in antioxidant substances. In our study, antioxidant capacity of Urmu Mulberry (Morus rubra) fruit was investigated and DNA protective activity was investigated. In addition, the antibacterial activity of Urmu Mulberry (M. rubra) on Stenotrophomonas maltophilia was investigated and reported. As a result, it was observed that the amount of antioxidant extracts of Urmu Mulberry (M. rubra) fruits was good enough and DNA protective activity had an effect on DNA protective activity. In the antibacterial study on S. maltophilia, Urmu Mulberry extract had no antibacterial effect on S. maltophilia. The effects of Urmu Mulberry on S. maltophilia bacteria and DNA damage was researched in this thesis for the first time.
