Abstract (EN)

Folk music, which is included in the folk culture of an existing society, is one of the most important sources that reflect the cultural characteristics of the society in which it is located and provide information about the society. Some of the people who have made important contributions to the transfer of these resources, which are accepted as cultural heritage, are local artists. Local artists are important people who sing the folk melodies of the region they live in with their local dialect and mannerisms, and who ensure the transfer of culture in the society they live in. The biography, cultural and musical identities of Mehmet Karadedeli, a resource person, compiler and local artist from Uşak, and his contributions to folk culture in this direction were determined by researching. In the first part of this thesis, which consists of three parts, the characteristics and information about the transition periods in the historical, geographical, economic, socio-cultural and folk culture of the province of Uşak are conveyed; In the second part, culture, folk culture, folklore and some concepts, Turkish folk music and related publications and researches are presented within the concepts that are thought to provide the clarity of the study; In the third part, which constitutes the findings part of the research, Mehmet Karadedeli's biography, cultural and musical identity has been included and his contributions to folk culture have been identified and conveyed within the limitations of the research. This thesis study is thought to be important because it is the first systematic study about the local artist Mehmet Karadedeli from Uşak, and it is anticipated that it will provide an idea for the researchers who will work in the field.
