Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study was conducted to compare the sleep quality and quality of life of patients with sleep apnea. Materials and methods: The study was planned as a cross-sectional, descriptive study. The study population consisted of 123 patients admitted to the sleep department. Sociodemographic form, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, EUROHIS-QOL Quality of Life form was completed. Independent groups't-test, one-way variance test and Pearson correlation test were used in the analysis. In addition, statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. Findings: The study participants consisted of 34 female (27.6%) and 89 male (72.4%) patients. When the findings regarding the sociodemographic information of the participants were examined, it was determined that the majority of the participants were male, between the ages of 41-60, married, primary school graduates, while the distribution of workers, civil servants, self-employed, retired and housewives was close to each other in terms of occupation. The majority of the participants stated that they did not drink alcohol, did not sweat at night, smoked, had sleep attacks, had difficulty falling asleep, woke up during the night, woke up early in the morning and stopped breathing during sleep. Conclusion: In the analysis conducted to examine the relationship between the participants' quality of life and sleep, it was determined that there was a statistically significant negative moderate relationship between Puki and quality of life (p<0.01). Accordingly, as the Puki score increases, the quality of life decreases. Therefore, as the quality of sleep decreases, the quality of life also decreases.
