Analysis thematic and musical of Leyla and Mecnun opera, composed by Üzeyir Hacibeyli

Art is an extensive concept that rest the body in the spiritual and mental development process of human life. Music is one of the important channel that provide this and it is in constant development. One of the factors that enable us to transfer music physically and linguistic can be expressed as opera. Opera, which is used to express our feelings, carries traces of our lives in every aspect. In the study, the historical development of music has been discussed and the opera genre, which has an important sub-category of art, has been examined. In this context, the history of opera, the Ottoman period, the republic period opera and the opera of our neighboring country Azerbaijan have been researched. The opera Leyla and Majnun, composed by Üzeyir Hacıbeyli, which has a valuable place in Azerbaijani opera, has been tried to be examined in terms of textual aspects, themes and melodic aspects. The descriptive research method was used in the survey model of the research. The words in the text of the opera Leyla and Majnun by Üzeyir Hacıbeyli, staged in Azerbaijan, were analyzed thematically, and the melody of the piece was tried to be evaluated with its musical features. As a result, the connections between the klavir and the libretto of Layla and Majnun are examined and how the dramatic pattern is formed is explained.
