Abstract (EN)
As a consequence of years of negligence and lack of attention, railways in our country havestayed far behind the modern technology. Therefore, the railway system has becomeinefficient and incompetent in meeting the increasing demand of passenger travel and goodstransportation. Recently made rehabilitations on the railways have resulted in tragic accidentsso far.In this thesis, `lateral stability on continuous welded railways? issue has been investigated andparameters leading to buckling have been scrutinised. In this sense, the strain of railwaystructure has been analysed and then, the railway superstructure has been reviewed as amechanical system, resistances emerged on the railway structure have been analysedaccordingly. The methods, which are used to analyse the lateral stability on continuouswelded railways, have been analysed respectively. After analysing each method, graphicsrepresenting the variation of lateral stability related with concerned parameters are produced.In the final section of this study, a comparison of these methods is given.
