Woman in novels of Vedat Turkali, One Day Alone and Blue Darkness

Vedat Turkali (1919), is one of the important authors in Turkish Literature. Even though he is dealing with cinema, he is known by his Istanbul poem and took place in Turkish Literature by his novels. His first novel, One Day Alone, is published in 1974. He had a great success by this novel by unveiling social reality by different perspective and editing. His other novel, Blue Darkness, is published in 1983. This study is written to research the place of woman in society in these two novels of Vedat Turkali and manner of writing. Turkali has presented two woman lines, "traditional" and "modernized", in his novel One Day Alone. It is seen that Gunsel, becoming modernized woman, has also some traditional features time by time. And this shows us that feminism is not understood exactly and settled down yet. Buy by end of 1960's, secondary wave of feminism is arisen. Turkali creates Nergis against to Gunsel character in his book Blue Darkness published in 1983 and presents her to the readers as stronger woman. As there is a man having relation with two women in novel One Day Alone, we will see a woman having relation with two men in novel Blue Darkness. This study has for chapters and in first chapter is including information regarding to feminist approaches mentioned in the novel. In second chapter of the study, you can find some information about life and art life of Turkali and reflections and influences on his works and books. In Third Chapter, sexuality, cheating and women discrepancies in One Day Alone are discoursed. And in Forth Chapter, "changes in woman in historical process" discussed in Blue Darkness is mentioned and emphasized.
